In an ideal world dark skin and light skin would just be physical descriptors for black women. More often than not, they are used to make judgments on personality, character and class. So when a fan referred to Justine Skye as her “fav dark skin” the singer had a strong reaction;
“as a beautiful black woman yourself, you should know that even though it may seem like it, this is not a compliment
If you can’t understand that categorizing THE SAME RACE by shade is not okay, you must not have had it done to you by the right person yet.”

Let em know Justine. It would be great if we could stop acting like dark-skinned and light-skinned black women are essentially two separate ethnicities.
Ladies, what are your thoughts?

True…I get tired of this! We ARE beautiful as is no matter what f-ing shade! #getoveritnow
I love her. ever since I discovered her, she’s become one of my favs. She hangs with Kylie so you’d expect her to be uneducated on most things like her but she’s different. She’s gonna make it big one day.
When has melanin ever been the determiner of character and social being?!!! It stops when we STOP allowing our minds attack our judgement.
