1. Black Don’t Crack
The popular belief that people of African descent look younger than their stated age is what sits behind the quip, “black don’t crack.”
Numerous black celebrities have aged gracefully over the years, including singer Lena Horne who died last year at 92, 45-year-old actor Blair Underwood, and 45-year-old actress Stacey Dash who still convincingly plays 20- and 30-something characters. Many black families have their own personal stories of ageless beauty to tell.
So, is it fact or fiction?
Fact.
“In my dermatology practice, black men and women tend to present with skin aging concerns about a decade later than my patients with lighter skin,” says Dr. Andrew F. Alexis, director of the Skin of Color Center at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in New York City.
The types of complaints are also different, Alexis says. Aging black men and women often seek treatment for uneven skin tone, large pores or moles. Yet, the leading cosmetic concerns in his aging Caucasian patients involve fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of sun damage.
Melanin, a pigment that affects the color of hair, eyes and – most importantly – skin, serves as natural sun protection. Since ultraviolet radiation from the sun causes skin to age faster, darker skin is more protected from those changes. People with fairer skin who did not use sunscreen at a young age are thus exposed to decades of sun damage long before reaching their older years.
However, the sun can still damage darker skin, and in addition to cosmetic changes, people with darker skin can develop skin cancer. So, even though “black don’t crack,” staying out of the sun, using a hat or umbrella to block sunrays, wearing sunscreen and avoiding cigarette smoking can stave off the cracks for a few years longer.
2. Black folks generate more heat
The clichéd scenario is a room filled with black people, where the room then becomes uncomfortably hot and someone frustratingly calls out, “There are too many black people in here,” as he or she escapes the room. Said person is usually referring to the concept that a group of black people generates more heat than other races. And, thus requires areas with more aeration or simply not gathering so closely together or so numerously.
So is it fact or fiction?
Fiction.
“The amount of heat radiated can depend on a handful of factors – race does not appear to be one of them,” says Dr. David Keller, assistant professor in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Texas, who regularly performs research on how the body regulates its own temperature.
People with larger body size, for example, tend to radiate more heat than those who are smaller, he says. Yet, no studies have shown a significant difference merely based on race.
Researchers in North Carolina recorded the body temperatures of nearly 100 elderly volunteers and found that black women had higher readings than the white women in the study — 98.5 degrees compared to 98.3. No difference was seen between black men and their white counterparts. The study was too small to draw larger conclusions.
All humans radiate heat throughout life, Keller explains. As the body’s temperature changes, so does its need to release heat. Temperatures can change throughout the day, even at rest, but most people — regardless of race — remain within the same narrow range.
Since black objects, like clothing, absorb the sun’s heat more intensely, older theories have implied that darker skin would also absorb more heat. However, in a lecture on heat transfer at the University of Houston, Engineering Professor Dr. John Lienhard confirmed that there is no difference: Dark skin absorbs no more heat than light skin does.
3. Black people are born with natural rhythm
When one sees the prevalence of African-Americans in the music and dance industries, it can easily appear as though black people do have natural rhythm. In a nightclub or simply while listening to music, it is common to find people of African descent moving to the beat of the music in a way that appears innate. If a black person doesn’t have rhythm, it is a cause for shame or, potentially, a reference to “dancing like a white person.”
So is it fact or fiction?
It depends.
If black people have innate rhythm, it is likely because of environment, not birth, says Dr. Andrée Grau, professor of the anthropology of dance at the University of Roehampton in London.
Children are often exposed to music and rhythm unknowingly. A child carried by his or her mother, as an infant, while she works around the house, or dances and sings to herself will have an experience different from a child who is not, says Grau. In certain cultures, this exposure continues at events such as parties, church services and theatrical events.
In cultures of Sub-Saharan African descent, the music is often polyrhythmic, forcing different body parts to move uniquely to different rhythms in dance.
It is also known that children who have early access to dance and music are more likely to be better at both later in life than those who wait until adolescence.
This is in line with the debated concept that race is cultural rather than biological.
British psychologist Richard Lynn argues that the stereotype is fiction altogether. In his 2006 book, Race Differences in Intelligence, Lynn compares the IQs of African-Americans to those of European descent with respect to musicality — tone, pitch, music memory, chord analysis — as well as rhythm.
African-Americans scored higher on the rhythm portions compared to musicality, but there was no difference in rhythm IQs between them and the Europeans tested. This suggests that both cultures have the same capacity for rhythm.
However, studies of identical and fraternal twins suggest that musical ability has a genetic component, raising the question of whether rhythm is also affected by genetics.
Grau is still not convinced it’s genetic. “It is easy for people to assume that because participating in dance is not a choice [in many African societies] and often an unavoidable social duty, and as a result, everyone is at least an adequate performer, these people must have dance ‘in the blood,’ especially when compared to some ‘two left-footed’ Europeans!”
She adds that even in ballet, usually dominated by non-blacks, certain techniques require fast footwork and body isolation similar to polyrhythmic dance. Yet, they are able to master those exercises without difficulty, despite not being of Sub-Saharan descent.
Conclusion: There are more sound explanations for why rhythm is a learned skill rather genetically based. The verdict is still out, but this seems to be more on the side of fiction.
4. Black men are naturally athletic
More than 80 percent of the National Basketball Association and over 60 percent of the National Football League are made up of black players. Blacks hold every major running record in the world, according to Jon Entine in an article about why race matters in sports. He adds boxing to the list of sports black men dominate as well.
One theory is that black men are just naturally athletic, and can dominate most sports without additional effort.
Is this fact or fiction?
Fact, depending on the sport.
Through research on his book, Taboo: Why Black Athletes Dominate Sports and Why We’re Afraid to Talk About It, and collaboration with experts on the topic, Entine makes the case that it is less about race and more about environment and ethnicity.
In the book, he explains the athletic features of particular ethnic groups:
People of West-African descent are superior in speed and jumping. With more fast-twitch fibers than other groups, muscles can contract faster and more powerfully. The athletes’ small, efficient lungs lend itself to sprinting as well.
“The best whites and Asians cannot jump as high as elite African-American athletes,” Entine says.
However, these characteristics make athletes of West-African descent less effective at endurance sports, and with their lower body fat, less buoyant when swimming.
On the other hand, East Africans win more than half of the top endurance races, and have more slow-twitch fibers, which contract for longer periods of time, and have lung capacities and a metabolism for longer races.
Whites of Eurasian backgrounds have more upper body strength and dominate in weight lifting and shotput.
And, East Asians excel at diving, ice skating and gymnastics due to an inherent predisposition for flexibility.
Black anthropologist William Montague Cobb suggested in 1939 that black Americans are physically superior due to the difficult physical trials throughout history in order to survive as a population.
“From this standpoint [the Negro] is the most highly selected stock in America… physically strong, showing great endurance at strenuous labor under severe climactic and nutritional hardships and producing a disproportionately large number of champions in representative fields of athletics.”
Conclusion: While black men dominate certain sports, namely basketball, football, boxing and track, Entine points out that whites still dominate the majority of athletics, especially winter sports. So, it is fact that black men are genetically programmed to excel in those specific sports. However, this fact is not generalizable to all sports.

It depends women of Italian Hungarian and southern European women age very well in fact I have been to Norway back in 93 before the winter games the older women looked extremely beautiful sure there were some who looked little aged lots sun I guess. But it’s not true all white women aged so fast
Interesting article, I don’t know why people are getting offended and trying to read between nonexistent lines. It makes total sense and doesn’t mean anyone is more or less than anyone else, and doesn’t necessarily mean athletes don’t deserve recognition for their skill. I’m personally still laughing at the “black people give off more heat” thing loll never heard that one!
I’m a black woman and I swim and play sports . I love football basketball and swimming . I swim all the time during the summer Time . Also I have natural hair so my hair is not the problem . I’m a really good swimmer too . Btw I love black men too. I also love other races but I’m not attracted to white men though . I believe black don’t crack I’m 18 and look like I’m 14. My grandma is in her 60’s with long natural hair but people tell her she looks young all the time and she has smooth clear skin . My mom is in her 40’s and still gets ask for her ID when she goes out .
When the Jews immigrated to US and started competing for education in American universities, they were considered genetically more intelligent to explain their dominance, rather than an obvious cultural value on education. Now that same superiority is attributed to Asian immigrants in the US. Black American participation in athletics represents one of the only areas we were allowed to dominate in and even then it is explained as a genetic trait- rather than the simple fact that it was all our culture had the allowance to achieve at the time. There are variations across groups, but don’t allow yourselves or your children to engender this racist psuedoscience unless you are okay with having your intelligence defined as genetically lower under this same standard. This article is not worth the pixels used to display it. Utter nonsense and racist propaganda.
wtf… who cares… get a life and stop griping over this?
I don’t know, I have been on many dance floors and it is not my imagination but we white people don’t move as good as black people or hispanics. Sorry, I just don’t see it. I tried everything but I always look like Carlton from Fresh Prince when I am dancing. My black friends know how to move. Bite my head but that is the truth for me.
It’s an environmental factor. It depends on how you were raised. I have black friends who cannot move their limb to save their lives while at the same time, I have white friends who will SLAY on that dancefloor.
Only one race Human Race. As a white male can’t lie but people of color made me uncomfortable but once I got to know them as a person the uncomfortable feeling went away. Never dated a black women but they are beautiful women on the outside and I am sure on the inside. Too bad people are born seeing color because if we were all born color blind then maybe skin color would not matter in the world.
Sorry but Im not interested in living in a world where people have to be ‘color blind’ and ‘not see my race’ in order for them to respect me. I AM black, but it shouldn’t make a difference, don’t be ‘blind’ and erase my colour and culture just because YOU can’t see around it
It’s hilarious that somebody actually went to the trouble of “writing” this. I assume he means black Africans because less than 5% of black Americans are “pure blood” as he calls it, or of 100% African descent. TruthFinderXXX is right. The majority of human beings in the western hemisphere are hybrids. What a ridiculous, racist article. All races have their unique merits and all races are beautiful in their own way.
Why? This article is right. It does not matter if someone is pure or not, the bottom line, the MAJORITY blood line is what make coming into play with people. I know biracial people who take more after their black side and one biracial person who took more after her white side. Same thing. If a person is 80% black then YES, it is most likely he/she is going to get more of those features and behaviors.
No no no no no – everyone is exactly the same in all ways except for the colour of the skin, there are NO other differences at all, and it’s RACIST to suggest otherwise.
WRONG. NO one is the same, not even men and women. There are differences and there is nothing wrong with that.
I am
so tired of all of the racism in this so called country. Fake America. America is an idea made up of all immigrants. america was stolen from my Native American people. I will gladly give up my citizenship and leave America.
mskay,
Then leave! Its not expensive. I can guarantee you will be surprised by what you find out there. Only the US expects itself to be perfect according to various an shifting definitions over the years. You will likely find MORE racism, not less overseas. Enjoy your trip!
So black people are humans? Wow. We’re not just all a stereotype? Shocking.
I was with you until the athletics part. The report speaks as if Americans have pure blood. Most do not. So, how do you account for Black folks in the NBA who are bi or multi racial? Those types of studies have been around forever and always come to the intended result. In the early part of last century people used such studies to try to prove that Whites were superior athletes. Now, it’s Black being superior athletes. Will it be Hispanic athletes 50 years from now?
Who dominates is about raw numbers and desire. If a larger percentage of Black men grow up playing basketball and thinking that’s their only way to be successful then more will likely become successful at it.
Numbers and desire.
People need to stop being so sensitive. This study is right. As for a biracial kid, he/she may get things more from their black side just like some folks get from their white side. Differences does NOT mean one group is better, it just means their are differences when it comes to racial features and so forth. Our hair is different, our features are different, etc. I have news for you, there are differences in men and women. Does those differences man a man better than a woman or visa versa? NO.
Do you notice how most black athletes look? Not biracial or seemingly biracial. Second, African genes are dominant, hence why a biracial child may take on more of their African genetic profile. Black people have only been westernized for 500-600 years–that is nothing compared to our existence on this planet for thousands of years. It is going to take more time to sanitize those deep African parts in us.
How many BLACK people are allowed to study race …and present findings?!? that go world wide …. fuck Professor Dr. John Lienhard, it’s a scientific fact that the color brown, generates more heat than white or yellow, and fuck British psychologist Richard Lynn. Because he’s British, even if he’s a black Brit, he’s still bias, with his COLONIZED ass! Also, if black people aren’t more athletic than why do we keep dunking on them?! The only sports we aren’t dominating in is the one’s that cost too damn much, golf (w/exception of tiger woods), ice hockey ..ain’t no ice skating rinks in the hood..race car driving, hell you gotta be a millionaire for that …Polo (although we did just win some awards there recently) them horses cost hard cash!…Fuck this blog whose writing this shit, anyway?! THey must be white
I agree with all except the rhythm thing. Come on y’all. How about those whites who grew up around African music and STILL can’t dance? I am baffled by this and I am not trying to be funny, I just think that is the way it is.
You know the same could be said about math. We have had a black male child with us most weekends and holidays since he was 11 – he is now 17. He has a nice cut physical appearance and can dance and moves well on the court…but my 3 white boys can out swim him (he just can’t get the hang of it) and are in math well above their levels – my husband worked with this child every weekend and he just can’t get it. So maybe instead of it being race like some point out it’s because from an early age his mother sang and danced and we sat with our boys and measured and added and played with numbers and blocks. I don’t know what it is but white men and math are the same as black men and court sports.
How did that sound to your ears? The same way the dancing thing sounded to mine? Racial differences that constantly point out the ‘others’ weaknesses are distressing. I don’t like this article.
Why do you take it as a weakness? it only means differences and that is true.
whites have the features that makes then better swimmers. Again, why are people trying to deny what it there. As for the black kid, he may just have a learning problem when it comes to math. Math issues are not the same as physical issues. That guy may not be good in math but he may be good in English (unless he has a learning problem which is in the brain functions).
Black people from the islands swim ALL the time!!!
Jom, why are math issues not the same as physical issues? I always assumed blacks were good at sports because so many saw that as their possible profession. In other words, most white kids DO NOT grow up with expectations of being a professional athlete no matter how good they are. Their parents and other family expect them to get educated and get a good job. They grow up expecting to be doctors, and lawyers, and scientists and businessmen. I realize most black kids grow up the same, but the numbers of black kids working and striving and expecting to be a great athletes is much greater. The problem is, only a select few make it to the pros. If that is your only plan, the fallback is brutal.
I played in a high school that was mostly white. We had a great athletics program. Our teams in ALL sports won more often than not, against teams both white and black, and almost always went to the playoffs. Literally NONE of my white team mates planned to be an athlete in the future. It was something we did for fun because we enjoyed it. We all expected to go to college, study, get good grades and get a job. Every single one of my black team mates thought he was going to get a college athletic scholarship, which was crazy. Only one did.
If you use race to explain something then you need to be careful. Are whites just better at math and science genetically? Are whites just less violent? It seems incredibly foolish to claim genetic racial differences when its suits you, but reject them when it doesn’t. Especially, when an explanation of life choices seems to fit the available data quite handily.
Way to eloquently guise your racist propaganda with words like “data” and “preference.” You got at least 12 people fooled. Data history and research conclude the violence you speak of is the result of socioeconomic factors created by years of oppression and discrimination. Within certain groups there are many who fight circumanstance to beat the system and statistics, there are also those who “choose” to accept it and those who don’t even know hoe to find a way better…Educational research also reveals akk environmental factors being equal a children have vast academic potentional. BTW there are many working in the trenches defy feeble minded expectations teaching black and brown babies breaking through years of poor schooling and lack of literacy support in homes; There are educators changing statistics through dedication love and research. Your experience does not qualify as universal truth no matter his slick you state it or how slow others were to realize your dig. No cherry picking here, veryifiable facts!
Looool… Well I’ve seen some dumb whites too who can’t get a hang of math. I won’t dispute the swimming part since I believe blacks don’t swim as good as whites because they have heavier muscle mass. Understanding math has nothing to do with race, as you can see from statistics African Immigrants (and Asians too) are the smartest/the most educated people in the country. Learning is all about environment but physical attributes can’t be learned. However, you don’t seem to be a good person for the fact that you came on here degrading a boy (probably a friend), who trusted you and your family and using him as an example of how his people are inferior to you.
And I mean African immigrants are black too
hi..urgh..my suggestion..maybe he felt intimidated by the fact that youre comparing him to your own sons…think of him and his ability to do well not as part of his race..but think of how you can help his personality..if he realises that youre comparing him to your own sons…how do you think he would feel.. its not just a race thing.. this can happen to anyone.. just my opinion
I have an MBA. I played math games ,counting, blocks, etc. with my son and he is not good at math. Black, white or green – It could be that some kids just are not good at math, Or it could be your approach . We all learn differently. What may work for one child may not work for another. I also sang and danced with him, but that is not why he has rhythm or excels at sports ( including swimming and lacrosse)
White boys are encouraged and mentored toward math and engineering….hence you still see not only less blacks but also less girls in math driven fields.
Black men tend to dominate basketball partly because of natural genetics, but mainly because basketball is more accessible. All you need is a ball and a hoop. Given more exposure and accessibility to other sports, there will be even more diversity in all sports.
Honestly speaking, blacks invented math, chess, perform the first open-heart surgery etc… Hell, they built the pyrimids! Look at their writings!
We should all play to our strengths, Grey eyed people have better depth perception, Morton Thiokol has a disproportionate number of Northern Europeans in its employ…
Most of us are hybrids.
I love my black man…mmmmhmmm….that’s all.
-Blackwoman
So, the truth comes out…people of color are just like all of us…different shapes, skin, eyes, likes and dislikes etc… Beauty is everywhere in all of us!
Exactly. I do not know why some folks are senative about this article. It is truth. Political correctness has made some folks lose truth.DIFFERENCES does NOT mean anyone is better it just mean DIFFERENT. If anyone is taking “differences” to be more than that, then that is insecurities on their part. The only thing I will not except when it comes to race is education. Education is based on our surroundings. In other words, to think one group is smarter than another group is silly because if one groups controll the education system, their beliefs and thought are going to define what is smart and that is not correct. I can take that same group and put them in another racial setting and they will come out looking stupid.
I don’t believe there is any inherent difference in the races with respect to football, boxing, basketball, etc. given that the persons being compared to are of equivalent build, height, weight, etc.
Latinos excel at boxing also and hold a large number of championships. They are considered part of the caucasion race. The primary reason blacks are more common in football, basketball is because they aspire to it from a young age. Just go look at any playground. Who is playing basketball? Normally not whites. Its a product of your environment. If 9 out of 10 kids playing basketball and football in school are black then chances are 9 out of 10 will also be professionals. White kids don’t gravitate en masse to sports like blacks. Besides, it’s a proven fact that the vast majority of ‘blacks’ in the U.S actually have a good percentage of white DNA. True blacks without white mixture are not that common anymore.
Well, there are certain qualities that are more dominant among different races. Blacks are generally good at sports. You can’t say white kids are not interested in sports as I see many of them in the field. WHat about the fact that among established basket/football players, majority of blacks succeed more than whites? Blacks on average have more muscles mass. On the other hand, Whites swim better, because of how they are build, (I guess not as dense as blacks). You see every of us are made differently but it’s something we should appreciate because that’s what makes the world interesting and not boring. And I’m surprised you are now claiming the Hispanics are Caucasian race….They are not white, last time I checked
They are not white, last time I checked
You are right, Whites are really European Americans.
Since when was Latino/Hispanic a race?
What about all the brown skinned Caribbean Latinas?
Since when are Latinos apart of the caucasian race, please explain this in full scientific detail. Cause this is the first i heard of it
“Nude negress law” anybody?
Not a lot of Black people in any Risky Sports. Just a lot of White’s who like to live Life to the Full and push the Limits.
Why do people care about this pety, superficial shit? The sooner that people of all races realize that we are more alike than we are different the better things will be. The day we realize that our differences are what make us unique and not what should separate us, we will know peace.
IM just a Dark Chocolate man Living in a White Chocolate World.
Goonie Goo Goo!
I bliv environment 2 a great xtent determines our features..jst lik fishes nd birds r different n features cos of dia habitat,so r we humans.i am a Nigerian nd black so i can adapt 2 my enviroment…GOD knws y he made it dat way lets stp chasin d wind..kumin 2 intelligence, genetics nd environmental factors such as life orientatn,socio-economic status, neighorhood, etc determine ones academic performance, lets nt 4get that intelligence cannot be confind 2 sch. Performance alone..
In terms of sociology, a lot of blacks and other minority groups turn to sports or entertainment when they feel they lack any other route to improve their economic or social situation because of discrimination or prejudice. There is no inherent gene in black people or other minorities that makes them run faster or jump higher.
With East Africans specifically, it is more biological and environmental. Much of the land in Ethiopia and Kenya are high altitude. Runners from there have the advantage of developing stronger lung capacity because of the environment they live in.Once they end up going to more northern countries for the Olympics, its practically a walk in the park – literally lol. But an Ethiopian or Kenyan person born in the States is also not inherently going to be an Olympic runner
Fuck All H8terz Cuz They KNOW 100% PASS That We Got That Body!!! 🙂 **Hey! I’m Not What You Think I Am!!!!***
Black People ALWAYS Have A GOOD, ROUND-SHAPED Booty! TRUST MEE! Black People Got That SWAGG! Now, Ain’t Nobody Going To Try To Be ALL THAT! Cuz… On YouTube/News/TV, **It’s NOT All White People, Tho! I’m Being Honest And Fair ((A LITTLE))** When They Show You White Girls That Dress HOT ((OK)), When You Look At Their Booties, Everyone Laugh Inside Their HEADS! Get That Straight, Peeps!!!!!!!!!! SERIOUSLY!!!
If They DO Have, Then Maybe It Was A Miracle From God, Or Plastic Surjury
Wow! is this what the world has come to? Why will you @poster pose as a black person to write this? Why do other ethnicities feel they have to compare themselves to blacks when it comes to basic natural endowments? dancing, strength, beauty of body and soul? why?
If it makes you feel better go on. . . but know it cannot alter the truth. And in the article, you made mention of other Dr.s who supported that black people’s gifts are not genetic or inherited but when you mentioned the doctor who said they were genetically stronger, you had to point out that he is black. Does his being black make any difference? He is a doctor just like the others.
You said that black people’s gifts are not inherent BUT the east Asian’s flexibility are?
You said black people’s “myth” of aging faster might not be a 100% true, what about their parents and grand parents in Africa? they do not even have need of a doctor as you stated here, but they age gracefully and healthily too. And of course you know Africa is a tropical continent with much sunshine.
And what is it you said about dancing? It is not inherent in blacks, but how is it a coincidence that blacks in Africa, America, Europe, Asia and all over the world who grew up under the very diverse conditions still are better at dancing?
Not saying all blacks are good in all these qualities, but when it comes to natural survival, you can’t beat black nor can you talk away the facts.
You may analyze the reasons why they are better: muscle mass, melanin etc etc. . . well that’s just the reasons why they are good at those things.
*black people’s gift of NOT aging faster
Lolwow
Lolololololololololololololololol, im black and this is true af
I know a black girl at the bank and she’s attractive as can be. I don’t believe color matters. But I always thought black girls have the biggest butts and Korean girls have the best legs.
The girls from Germany, England, Europe in general where they walk everywhere are built like a Brick Shit HOUSE. I love me some girls from England in the legs department
Black people’s natural rhythm comes from Africa, home of poly and syncopated rhythm patterns. It’s in out blood and the Dr. from London got that one wrong.

Respect
This land called Africa is beautiful
black women give great head…just ask the band.
Yo yo yo, let’s get real up in here. Wha bout us ruling the streets? Where dat be at? Wha bout us showing class and style with donk rides and mad bling? Black be da bomb yo!
You’re obviously not black…
Whatever he is, I picture him with a large timepiece upon his chest.
Yes, Audrey, we know…that’s the joke!
I think that while black people tend to excel at some physical things, white people are tremendously more intelligent. Also, white people excel at cold-weather sports. It has long been my opinion that black people tend to dominate certain sports, not because they are better at them, but because they drive white people away. I heard a black group say that there are now too many white people in basketball. Black people tend to be more racist.
Some white people will always try to make themselves feel better by stating that they are more intelligent, because they know that they are genetically inferior. Somehow, it lessens the sting.
It isn’t true, but they need to believe it and make up statistics to “prove” it. When we out score them academically, it’s because of our european ancestry.
But what pisses white men off the most is the penis size issue. They have created a lot of smoke (disenfranchisement, arrested development, etc) to try and keep us down. It is as if they think that if they keep saying these things enough, it will become true. It’s the real “penis envy” scenario.
No matter how much smarter, wealthier, or more attractive they try to make themselves appear to be; the biggest phallus will always belong to us.
I ask you this white men; Would you rather be a billionaire, or would you rather have the largest penis?
Yes, that’s what I thought.
Your in denial tonyd0411.
Give me the bill. I can buy a PUMP
Black men got soul! Majority of black men do not have the dollar bill in abundance, but they sure nuff got soul. Question, what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul? My man can always get the money through hard work and perseverance exercising his faith with the support of his Queen, but if he can’t work the middle, Its gonna be a toss up of whether or not I can be on his team… Game over. Kid Chocolate. Black is where it’s at though from my experience. We put way too much emphasis on a dollar bill and if we had the money wouldn’t have it for long cause we don’t have sense enough to save, invest and maintain. However I’m very proud of the benefits that comes with being a black. I am even more proud of the benefits of being a human being where we can come together and discuss our thought on our similarities and differences. At the end of it all we all are one. When ego gets in the way and people think they are superior than the next people that’s when division occurs. We must appreciate our similarities and differences and respect what remains truth. I share this from a place of peace.
I would rather have the cash
Don’t you sound stupid in your so called intelligence. “Black people drive white people away. . .” Is it not a shame that the “less intelligent” ones could drive the smart ones away? who’s smart now?
I think black women do produce more heat and this can best be proved by people who’ve been intimate with different races. When you handshake a black woman ther’s a difference in temp than when it’s a white woman.I am black and of my 3 kids one of them dances like a white person from birth.Shyness does play a role but comparing the other 2 from birth they have so much energy when it comes to dancing.I also used to dance when i was pregnant and still dance with them today. If you go to South Africa dancing is an inborn thing.Wheter its a big fat woman blacks are not shy to show their dancing skills.Just by the beat of music at a bus stop they dance and if you didn’t know much of their culture you think they are crazy.South Africans are also amongst the blaks with the most perfect skin even without scrubbing they don’t age fast.God blessed them with skin.
im black and my body temperature varies throughout the day. I don’t know who you have met in your lifetime. Second, why does this even matter? why are we the only race that cares about generalizations? I don’t care what other black people can and cannot do, I am myself. God created me as an individual. If some black people are dumb, fat or lazy, doesn’t mean I am or will be. And just because some blacks are smart, talented and good people doesn’t mean I will be either. We are united by culture, but that’s the only thing. Just because I look similar to you doesn’t mean by nature I am you or vise versa. I love being who I am and do not need any one else to dictate who I am. I think in order to protect our children and our future, this is what we should teach them.
Yvonne, that’s an interesting observation about the exceptional skin of South Africans, in particular. I wonder, are you well enough acquainted with the ethnic make-up of black folks there, that you might recall whether the San (Mandela’s people) had the better complexions, rather than those descended from the Bantu-speakers? The San are, like the far less numerous pygmy, of far older origin. They were the people who were largely displaced when the Bantu spread out from a small area adjacent to the Sahara Desert. The San only survived as a people because the veldt, much like the American Great Plains, was useless for raising crops and livestock until the Dutch brought the iron plow, which was (and is) used to break the tough, matted soil.
Let’s face it, ALL THE COLORS/ nationalities HAVE ” HAVE AND HAVE NOTS”. Ie SINGING, DANCING, BIG BUTTS / BOOBS, etc. etc. etc. ad nauseam. Just because some black woman happen to have big butt for instance doesn’t mean all of them have it that is excepted as a race thing. Besides, just for example I am as white as they come from frozen north, where we have very little sunshine, other than in summer, but I was given booty by nature that was embarrassment to me in my youth. But now is considered very desirable. Also I was and still am a lover of dancing and have rhythm in my blood. So it goes to show one may have talents that are considered talent only of one or other race. Besides, why make it for one or the other races talents, when we all are ONE RACE to begin with. Unless it is something where person have to have identity of some sort, when one is lacking it in other areas. We all came from the same source in Africa that is good to remember for each of us. And BLACK at that, but have evolved over time to what we are today. In the end if you have talent etc., good for you. Be happy with it, but do not mock those that are lacking, for they may have talents in other areas that you may not have.

of course you will find a black person who doesnt have rhythmn..why with all the race mixing ..what do you expect…like you will find a flat butt black girl every now and then..but we talking majority..just like you have some blacks with light green eyes..even blue eyes..but we talking majority..
All black women/girls do not have “booty”. My mom was one. I have wide hips from dad’s side but a flat buttlike mom. There are flat butt girls at my gym & white girls with BUTT to spare. Speaking of butt, how many of you have noticed over the years, that there are many more white girls with butt than there used to be? Before you scream “implants!” I’ve noticed this on little girls as they grow into middle school age. Back in the day when I was a kid, the flat butt look was “in” & everyone wore girdles to keep it flat with no jiggle.Look at movies from 50s-late 60s. Then women quit wearing them
& opted for more natural look. Now everyone wants a butt like J Lo & Kim K.
But why will you pretend to be a black girl instead of coming out as who you are? A white girl. smh

What Dr. Andrée Grau has stated is a myth and is asinine. Black people do not learn to have rhythm by example. We, at least many of us, are born with rhythm. For example, my mother died when I was a 2 years of age, and my dad was not a dancer. He did not dance around the house as Dr. Grau would have it, yet I am very rhythmic. I am a wonderful dancer. Thus, I have rhythm and I always have. Other examples are: All of my children have rhythm, and we are very academic. I certainly used most of my time around the home more effectively than in dance. (SMH) Further, I watched a group of girls learn a complicated dance routine, and there was one White girl. The rest were Black, and the White girl could not learn the complications of the dance as the Black girls could naturally, nor did the White girl have the natural rhythm as the Black girls. Therefore, my theory is that rhythm is in our DNA for those of us who have it just as melanin (the reason that we are brown) is in our DNA. Some people have it and others do not.
I’m African American & an elementary music teacher for many years & my school is multicultural with Asians,Africans,African Americans, Hispanics, East Indians,Eastern Europeans,Middle Eastern & American whites of various nationalities. Some kids are just more sensitive to music & rhythm than others, no matter the race. I have half Korean cousins who grew up in a mixed neighborhood with a lot of blacks & Hispanics. They said the white kids there, esp the Italians, could dance as well as they could because of innate talent plus exposure. Another factor in why whites don’t dance as well is the idea that rhythm is a black thing & they can’t do it. Another is that many whites actively stop their kids from doing “black things”. I’ve been at fairs where rock bands are playing & little kids start dancing.Once I saw a little white girl about 5 start dancing. She was spot on with the beat & had good moves but her parents, who were standing stiff as boards, made her stop & stand still. Another girl, whose parents looked to be more liberal …like the 60s types, let her dancewith no restrictions. Now who do you think would be the better dancer in high school?
I think all races have the capacity to learn whatever another race can do. Blacks were once told they had the wrong type bodies for ballet, could not sing opera, weren’t smart enough to be quarterbacks,
& a whole slew of other nonsense. A person can program themselves into
“can” or “can’t do”. I have white & Asian kids who can dance very well
& some blacks that can’t. Kids whose culture features rhythmic percussive music..Middle Eastern,Hispanic, East Indian,African.. catch on quicker. Cultures that are highly reserved & less likely to show emotion don’t catch on to our dances well. I’ve noticed that among white kids Italian Americans, like my cousins said, tend to excel. Their culture tends to be less inhibited & reserved.
It’s true what you said. I have never seen my mom dance, ever, she might if she hears a song she likes click her fingers but that’s it. I on the other hand cannot, cannot hear any rhythm playing and not tap, jig, shake, nod, you get the message…I have to move to the beat, can’t help it. It’s just something about being black, check out Trini carnival/Jamaica carnival I’ll say, if it’s not a black thing then it’s definitely a Caribbean thing.
I’m black and have been told I dance like a “white girl” by Africans. So, there goes that myth. LOL
This is really interesting, You are a very professional blogger. I’ve joined your rss feed and look ahead to in quest of more of your wonderful post. Also, I have shared your website in my social networks
I think the entire world needs to rethink the ‘well-endowed’ thing– for any ethnicity. I personally think focus on someone’s genitals demeans a man. We’ve developed this size = power concept that will be our undoing. What drives a man’s sexual attractiveness is his passion and his entire body, not just a body part. Besides, for the majority of women out there [many of whom sadly faking their orgasms repeatedly to accommodate some poor fool’s ego] we don’t really need penetration to bring us over the edge, and something large is pretty much eye candy. Can’t speak for the multi-orgasmic girls tho… bottom line is bigger is not always better. Lots of awesome [I mean AWESOME] guys go unnoticed or even develop weird fetishes because of ‘the hype… it’s sad. Humans just need to evolve & not be confined to mob mentality. Myth busters unite! lol
The biggest myth black people believe about themselves is that they are a race.
+1
hear hear – simply & well put!
most accurate comment on this page. +1!!
wow!! that is interesting.. what are we then?
…a PHENOTYPE of the human genotype; otherwise we’re all the same (with the African phenotype generally having a slight edge in the “gorgeousness” department!) 8^)
Another myth is black women can’t grow their hair long.
FICTION!
I am black and my mom has been growing my hair from birth its 15″ real hair. Really it just takes time and patience. But believe me it’s totally worth it.
Stacey Dash looks as good as she does because she works out on a regular basis and doesn’t eat herself into oblivion. Obesity rate is very high in our community (at least in the US). Yes, we do age well, but it depend on lifestyle as well.
Hilarious article but I’m feeling it.

Black will only crack if you have a bad diet or health problems. Black people are best looking people on this planet.
yep!!
Word. I’m 100% African-American. I can saaaaaang, but I can’t dance.:( I can tweerk though. 😉
All black people have rhythm is DEFFINATELY a myth. Either that, or I totally missed my portion of rhythm when God was passing out shares to the other black people. If you don’t beleive me, watch the chick in the back in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYoW0nKuaS0
lol
Lol I missed that too. I canNOT dance! lol
In my observation, most races don’t crack. Just caucasians. So I don’t really think it’s a black thing.
Have you ever seen Indian and Latino/Hispanic women as they age. Also far eastern Asians! Also it’s not only wrinkles that age people but also weight gain. Some of these races are prone to rapid weight gain as they age which always seems to add about 10 years to a person. Not just women either. There are also exceptions to the rules i.e you can find people in any race who age well even White ones though they are fewer than us. I’m proud to age well.
Btw Halle Berry hasn’t cracked. Maybe some of the ‘cracked’ black/mixed celebs have health issues or lived wild lifestyles in their youth and are only now seeing the results?
On a serious note a couple of those myths are ignorant and prejudice disguised as backhanded compliments. Reading between the lines they suggest one thing: lazy but good for sex and manual work. Doesn’t the athletic one have its roots in the cod science of eugenics?
I’m white and my mother’s ancestry is Polish-Belarussian. She had amazing skin and in spite of smoking and sunbathing for a deep tan (she never burned) she looked 20 years younger than she was until she was 70. My sister and I inherited her skin. When we were young we never burned, always tanned, and still look younger than we are. My daughter and nieces inherited this skin, too and it’s the same for them. We all have fabulous, beautiful smooth skin.
As a result I totally believe that the skin thing for blacks is true because there has to be a genetic component. I know so many black men and women even ones who are lighter whose skin definitely does not show their age, especially around the neck.
On the other hand one of my super-white southern girl friends looked ten years older from the time she was in her thirties because of that whole turkey-neck thing. She has had work done to her face so it doesn’t show as many wrinkles, but you can’t hide that neck!
Blair Underwood is 45??!!! I thought he was 30!!
I would think so, too if I weren’t old enough to remember him from LA Law. That brother made a sister go to law school. Lol.
I’ve always thought that the skin thing was true just based on my family. My mom is 59 and my friends say she looks like she’s 40. I’m 30 and still get carded people have told me I look 24. I do think that happiness plays a huge role in aging as well…smiling alot and being positive also helps.
The black folks generating heat thing I’ve always known to be a myth but would laugh along when people jokingly stated that.
The well endowed thing…well let’s just say I thought it was true for a long time until it was proven to not be so…
Happy Weekend!
Well, I’ve had some white lovers in the past (or shall I say lovahs, lol) that proved that the myth wasn’t true. Lawd have mercy!
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! +1!!
I’ve heard, and jokingly used, the “black people attract heat” phrase.
What I’m about to write is controversial, but by no means, an intentional hurtful phrase: yes, black don’t black. But, half-black does. I’m sorry, but it’s true. Jasmine Guy, anyone?
I thought Jasmine Guy was ill at some point? Lupus?
Never heard the black and heat thing except with clothing.
Yes, half-black does crack more – Jasmine Guy, Karen Parsons, Lisa Bonet are good examples.
Uh, Jasmine guy, lisa bonet and karen parson have a white parent.. we talking real black people that dont crack..look up Dr rovenia Brock.. her audience took a poll and they said she 35..the woman is a 56 year old black woman.. go ahead..look her up.. look at angela basset 58..patti labelle 67..the list goes on “black dont crack” and the blacker the berry the sweeter thejuice..thats why i love dark plums, grapes and anything thats dark.
@Kim J: Uh, no one disputed that Lisa Bonet et al are half white. They stated before that even if balck doesn’t crack, half black does crack. Your comment is really useless and ignorant. Does being half white mean you’re not really black? I thought that level of ignorance was dying out, but here you are keeping it alive!
My boyfriend is very light, he worries that he will ‘crack’. I told him Smokey Robinson looks good, he snapped “smokey robinson has millions of dollars. 🙂 We’ll see. I’ll let y’all know in ~30 years.
@Jade with the light-skinned boyfriend.
I wouldn’t use Smokey Robinson as an example; his face is too tight and looks like too many facelifts. In boxing, it’s said that lighter skin isn’t as durable and tends to break and bleed more.
I’m one of the lucky ones. I’m English-Irish-American, but when I took my Jamaican-Chinese-American wife to dinner at Applebee’s, I kidded the waiter about the free desert she had coming for her birthday. I said I’ll go double or nothing, if he can get within 5 years of either of our ages. It was her 50th, but her guessed she was 38. I’m 10 years older, but he guessed I was 41. I got the dinky little scoop of free ice cream. Then, we split the double chocolate brownie with ice cream all smothered in chocolate syrup.
I’ve never understood why my wife doesn’t react at all to a good beat. Whether we’re in the car, listening to the radio, at home watching TV or whatever, I’m always dancing in my seat or tapping my foot. She laughs when I start wiggling my toes, if we’re watching TV in bed. The only time I ever got my wife to dance was at our wedding. Whenever I danced in black clubs before we met, people swore I had to have some black ancestors, but it’s not true.
Any inanimate black object, whether clothing, a car, asphalt pavement, or whatever, absorbs heat. People are NOT objects, and our bodies are all self-regulating within a certain range (except when hypothermia or sunstroke is involved). I’ve never heard that myth and never would have bought it if I had.
ummmm Halle Berry anyone…she is the definition of black dont crack
I’ve heard that black clothing attracts heat, but never that about black people.
i’ve heard the “black draws heat” thing before, but i always heard it as a joke and never someone saying it as if it’s true. like if there’s a cookout or other gathering and a lot of people are in close proximity, someone steps away from the crowd for whatever reason and they’re asked why they went away, and they’ll reply “don’t you know there’s too many black people here? black draws heat!” i didn’t think anyone took it seriously, though
I agree with the age thing. At the age of 23 my boss though that I was 16. And now at the age of 27 people think I’m 19/20.
I heard the the myth that blacks generate more heat…it’s so silly.
The heat one is ridiculous. I’ve never heard anyone say that before EVER. The black don’t crack one seems entirely true since most early 20 something caucasians look about 30+ whereas I at 30 am often confused for being a late teen – early twenty. I notice that other black people seem to follow this pattern. However if you generally have an old looking face (as some people of all races do) then you will never really look youthful melanin or not.
Most white people in their early 20’s look 30+? LOL Wrong!
I love being black! I’ve never heard the black people generate heat myth, but that just sounds dumb… lol I love that “black don’t crack” because I’m never gonna be obsessing over botox and injecting chemicals into my face to look younger.
I know. I’m jealous. I hate being pale-ass white-gotta- go- to- the tanning- salon mess. Black is beautiful!!!
Ugh at some of these myths lol. We can’t possibly be this ignorant lol.
Which myths did you find to be ignorant?? Was it the itis myth and/or the black folks generate heat myth? Just wondering.
All of them except black don’t crack (as fast). That is the truth!
We’re not, but society is. Sounds like some bored scientists and anthropologists. That ‘Rhythm’ debate sounds like a bitter non-black trying to discount our phenomenal abilities, lol #imJustSaying
I’m black and couldn’t get in show choir to save my life (the dancing killed me). However, I can get down on a dance floor.
