Sure, everyone is familiar with the world-famous New York Fashion Week as well as fashion weeks in Paris, London and other parts of the world. You my not know about Ankara Fashion Week, founded two years ago, and exclusively highlighting African Wax Print. The bright and bold fabrics have served as the backbone of West African apparel for centuries. The fashion week itself is the brainchild of AllthingsAnkara founder, Nikki Billie Jean (Nicolette Orji) and takes place in Miami, FL and Washington, D.C.
From the All things Ankara website:
“All Things Ankara Fashion Week is a series of fashion events that showcases, highlights, and celebrates Ankara Print Fashion. It is used as an economic platform to highlight and introduce emerging and established Ankara Print inspired designers, and small businesses to the general public and untapped demographics. ”
Take a look at some of the pieces featured on the catwalk during this year’s run.
Sound off! We want to hear what you think of Ankara Fashion Week.

Attending is now on my bucket list.…I wish I would have seen some beautiful bridal though.
Still breathtakingly beautiful.
The bold and beautiful! Very nice indeed!
very interesting indeed.
Very enticing. I notice that some of the dresses inspired some American fashion.
I love african prints and Ive been looking for clothing for years that use wax prints. I have some that were made in Africa but have a problem finding American made. More suits, dresses and skirts would be great. Oh and coats. Oscar DeLaRenta had a whole show one year of African inspired designs on the runway. Magnificent. But not affordable.
Glad they used Black models. …
