It was one of the most cringeworthy TV moments of 2013; Sheryl Underwood, on her syndicated show The Talk, mocking natural hair while her white and Asian co-hosts laughed. Underwood faced massive backlash from black women and, in the aftermath, talked about her own challenges as a dark-skinned black woman in entertainment.
Last year she apologizes for her remarks and did a live on-air reveal of her natural hair.
This year, Sheryl has gone a step further, incorporating kinky/curly wigs into her normally straight-haired beauty routine.
This past weekend, while attending Steve Harvey’s annual Neighborhood Awards in Las Vegas, she rocked the signature blue of her sorority, Zeta Phi Beta blue, and a voluminous fro wig.
We hope she knows how lovely she looks!
She looks good with the afro — it’s nice to see that her mindset has changed and how she is now embracing part of her true identity.
She looks great
She looks awesome, glad she realized how her comments were harmful and apologized. #GoSheryl
Such a transformation. No such thing as natural hair not looking good on us.
Exactly. How can healthy afro hair in a natural style NOT look good???
Thank goodness her mindset changed and is embracing who she is! She looks SOOOO much better with her hair like this.
She really looks good!
Bye girl.
Beautiful!
Stunning.
