So, it is a new year, and you are working on a new you all the way down to your protective style. You are in a rut and want something new (AND easy) for 2016. Well, look no further. Here are five easy-to-do protective styles that you can wear at the office, to the gym or for a night out!
1. Chunky Twisted Updo
Believe it or not, this protective updo is really easy and quick to achieve. The volumized twists give the illusion of complexity and structure. For this look, get your bobby pins ready and start on stretched, dry hair.
TOOLS: Denman brush, bobby pins
2. 5-Minute Updo
This five-minute updo literally takes little time to achieve. Starting from an old braid out or twist out, you essentially pin your way to this regal protective style. Be sure to have a plentiful stash of bobby pins; it took Jess twenty to thirty pins to create this look.
PRODUCTS: Curls-R-Us Moisturizing Lotion, hair serum
TOOLS: bobby pins (20-30)
3. Chic Updo
For this chic and easy updo, flexi rods are used on stretched hair to create elongated curls. Alternatively, you can use perm rods or rollers to get a similar effect. Then gather your hair as Liv does in the following tutorial.
PRODUCTS: Camille Rose Naturals Aloe Whipped Butter Gel, Curls Passion Fruit Control Paste
TOOLS: flexi rods, elastic hair tie, bobby pins
4. Protective Updo
Now, this protective updo will take some time to complete, but it is still really easy to achieve. Additionally, it can last for days at a time! All you need to do are some simple two-strand twists at the bang and in the ponytail.
PRODUCTS: Eden BodyWorks All Natural Coconut Shea Curl Defining Creme, Eco Styler Olive Oil Gel, water
TOOLS: hair clip, elastic hair tie, bobby pins
5. Triple Flat Twist
Here is another easy protective style by Tawanda. Start on hair that has been stretched via blow drying, African threading, banding, or any other method you prefer. Then create three big flat twists and pin as demonstrated in the below tutorial.
TOOLS: bobby pins
Which of these protective styles will you try?
I miss my hair. I’ll just crochet to achieve the looks.
#2 is the only hairstyle you can wear to the office….the others NO….fellow commenters we can agree to disagree
all of them can be worn to work. It all depends on the industry you are.
I like the article and the styles! Well done BGLH! More of these (hair articles) please. Very helpful.
