5 Ghanaian Socialites Flaunting Their Extreme Curves on Instagram and Gaining Massive Followings

Avatar • Dec 7, 2015

In the West African country of Ghana, socialites, up and coming actresses and models are showing off their god given curves and amassing sizeable Instagram followings that span continents. But although these women have jaw-dropping figures, they are controversial in Ghana, with some expressing discomfort at the unabashed sexuality of their postings.

Moesha Boduong, who studied theatre arts at The University of Ghana, responds to the criticism she has received by explaining that her body is “art” and she is not ashamed to show it off.

It is not as if I do those poses or wear dresses to bring my curves out intentionally, the truth is that, there is nothing I can do about it. I can’t hide these curves and if you can’t hide something, the best thing to do is to appreciate and flaunt it just as the Bible says that everything God created is beautiful.”

And these women are beautiful indeed, making it clear that Africa is truly the birthplace of voluptuous women.

Those are some serious S curves! <3 I love when Black women are unapologetic about their features. Most times we can be so voluptuous that when we embrace it or show it off, people are quick to call us slutty for it. These are the same features that are praised on women of other races when they have them but this is a reminder that we had them first!

I’m glad these women love their bodies and themselves. Growing up I was taught to hide my curves. That they’d get me only “the wrong kind of attention” from men. My pants had to be loose fitting and my shirts had to cover my butt… And it was oppressing. I felt trapped. I understand that these women’s curves will be prominent under whatever they wear, and they are beautiful. I don’t think that any person should be ashamed or feel guilty about the way God created their body. And the hurtful stereotypes, predjudices, and treatment they are subjected to is… Read more »

I am here for women that are unapologetic about their curves. Yes!! I know the feeling of being forced to cover my body up. You know whats really funny. Like am looking at the pic of Princess in the all black outfit. What some people will say is its too tight. Yet majority of her body is covered. You really can’t win with people. and then some people believe its abnormal for girls to be so curvy. Thinking its enhancements and implants. No boo its real. Its all mine and its very real. I wear a simple dress, knee length,… Read more »

Most if not all of these women have actually enhanced their bodies via surgery, waist trainers, etc and sadly, are the playthings of sugar daddies. They are emulating the African-American girls on Instagram and trying to show themselves as rich babes living the life, trying to sound American, etc but at what cost??? Notice how none of them is a regular everyday girl. I’m gonna have to agree with the MonteOz blogger. They shouldn’t be seen as celebrities, but hey *Kanye shrug*

Thank you for adding this. Only one of this young women has natural curves. The others had their natural assets exaggerated via surgery or animal hormone supplements.

It’s not just African American girls doing this nonsense! There’s so much prostituting via Instagram and women of all races partake in it. They call themselves sugar babies or even escorts, and 95% of the time when there’s booking info in their profile, it’s to make an arrangement for them and some “hot friends” to travel to Dubai or whatever. That is just an example but it’s widespread amongst women of different races who flaunt on Instagram.

And might I add that y’all hyping them is a little suspect… By all means celebrate women with REAL curves who are living their lives and NOT using their curves for money and fame.

I’m Ghanaian and am not proud of these women for some odd reason (can you sense my sarcasm)? C’mon ladies, you are more than your bodies. Ol’ girl in her barely-there bikini? You can’t be mad if people are calling you less than respectful names when you’re dressed like that. I know I’m old school but as a lady, there needs to be some discretion about you. Your lady parts are not for the whole entire world to see!

I have to agree. In my day, girls were encouraged to dress modestly & not flaunt their lady parts in public. No bikinis, see thru blouses, too short skirts, etc.because the girls & women that do seem to attract men who want trophies, bragging rights & bed partners instead of real relationships. I prefer African women who project a wholesome, progressive image like Lupita N’yongo and these iconic African leaders http://thisisafrica.me/africas-10-iconic-women-leaders/

. I don’t think these women are totally natural at all. I have met many African women from Ghana,Nigeria,Mali,Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe,South Africa, Egypt, Sudan,Liberia & probably a few others I can’t recall. There is a large contingent of Africans in a big city near me. NONE of them are as exaggerated as these women. Some had the type of butts you see on African American women.…like the girl in the jean shorts & the one in black jeans… but none looked as out of proportion as these. The ones that have the largest butts are usually overweight all over…obese… Read more »

I feel it’s sad that these Ghanian women modified their butts to this caricature of black women’s natural body shape. Our bodies as black women are already (usually) curvaceous and beautiful as they are, but these women decreased their bodily beauty by artificially inflating certain areas to these exaggerated proportions. It’s sad, not sexy, to deform your body. 🙁 I blame the average American black American man and their artificially inflated (in more ways than one) pet Kim Kartrashcan for encouraging this hideous and unsafe trend, which I suppose may spread to more populations of black women around the world.… Read more »

no joke, my mom has a body like these women and I’m west African. Slim waist, very wide hips and butt and so do some of my family members and her friends. Of course as her only daughter, I got none of it LOL.

Anyway, their thighs tell the real story and most have really thick thighs. Now I’m not saying some of them didn’t get things enhanced a bit but there are many women with bodies like this out there. Guess you haven’t met them. *shrugs*

PLEASE READ! I have to put my 2 cents out there. I am a young Ghanaian lady in my early 20s and I too am voluptuous, big booty, small waist, wide hips and an ‘average-sized’ rack. Believe it or not born and bred in England, London I was insecure about these God given features. Why some may ask, when people are paying so much money for this? The reasons are: 1) I had men lusting after my body-wrong intentions, with no real interest in me as a person‑i.e. personality. This made me sceptical when men wanted to be in relationships with… Read more »

This is tricky. Firstly, absolutely African women have curves for days and weeks. My Nigerian grandma, 60+ and gorgeous has a lovely figure herself, as well as all her daughters, including my mum. So yeah Africa is indeed the origin for all human phenotypes. Second, how this affects men or how showing skin works in a patriarchy is complex. Sure the woman feels “liberated”, showing her breasts and butt, but in doing so she has sexualbutt/objectified herself, I believe. Yes a person’s identity can be focused on their sex, but why would a young, promising person do that? Being sexual… Read more »

I’m curious if any of them is actually married. It seems like all they have to offer is to be a man’s plaything and that’s it and play things can easily be replaced with a play thing with a bigger butt and bigger breasts. With all their disproportionate bodies looking all deformed, they can catch any man’s eye but can they hold his attention and make him feel worthy of making an honest woman out of them. I’m not saying that becoming a man’s wife is the end all and be all of a woman’s worth but these women obviously… Read more »

my husband is from Ghana and just yesterday he mentioned to me that Ghana women are getting butt injections just like American women. Hilarious!

and let’s understand that those tiny, tiny waists are from using waist trainers! don’t be fooled!

That’s only a small minority though. You’re saying that like it’s the norm to get butt injections. How many women can afford such?? There are many more women in villages or townships or low-income areas that are shaped like that… are they also getting butt injections?. So your one man from Ghana clearly exaggerated and you just took it as a fact.

The moesha girl apparently fainted in a mall in Ghana some days ago and when people rushed to her aide, they found 3–4 waist trainers underneath her clothing. When she regain consciousness, the first thing she allegedly was looking for was her waist trainers of which two were stolen. I am west African (Nigerian) and I have always been a curvy girl with the small waist, butt and hips and unapologetic for it- this is how the women on both my mom and dads side are built and by nature most African women are well endowed and curvy, including SOME… Read more »

I am Ghanaian and yes we have very curvy women with small waist’. They may not be as extreme as these but we do have it. Just because some people may be getting butt injections doesn’t mean every Ghanaian woman with a curvy body has. Obviously not all Ghanaian women can have curvy bodies. In fact those with natural curvy bodies are absolutely beautiful. The proportions are not extreme and match perfectly, just as God created them to be. Also to address the issue of these women being bashed. In my opinion it isn’t necessarily their body type that is… Read more »

Most Ghanaian women are very curvy naturally. I live in Ghana, and very few women here enhance their bodies. Only the middle upper class could afford it.
You see women built like this every day of the week. I can’t speak for the ones above(as to whether they have had enhancements) , but I do know that I see these type of bodies every day on women who I know for a fact could not afford this sort of surgery. Body enhancement surgery is not common place in Ghana.

I am disgusted with people using women’s bodies as an excuse to degrade them. The “you deserve nasty, sexist comments because you’re flaunting your body” is appalling. And it’s simultaneously true that women are more than their bodies and should also celebrate everything they have to offer, and not solely validation from men or women for their bodies. But a picture only tells so much. I have no clue who these women are, what their personalities are like, or what they contribute to their communities and families. AND just because it’s “too much” for you doesn’t mean you should make… Read more »

Women bashing other women. That’s the sad thing about it all. You may not like what someone else is doing, heck, you may not even know for sure if your ‘theory’ about them or what they are doing is foolproof, but hey, you will bash them anyway… because? #BeefIsToxic. #ThereIsSomethingCalledRespect #ItsNeverTheWhatItsTheHow

Appalled at all these comments about these women being fake and deformed. Honestly. I have so many friends that have hour glass figures with small waists. And some of these they look unnatural… so whose body should be considered natural? Come on. Women come in all shapes and sizes. Just because you dont have a small waist doesnt mean you should hate on others. also waist trainers can only go so far. I know women that use waist trainers but dont have small waists like these women.

It’s not just South African or Ghanian women that have these curves, it’s African women full stop/period. Jamaican, Barbadian, African American, Black British African/Caribbean, Nigerian, WE’RE ALL AFRICAN and MOST of us have a naturally curvy body similar to the above, but not necessarily as curvy. We don’t all need to surgically enhance our beautiful God-given bodies like the Kim Kardashians of the world, who only wish they had it like that. https://youtu.be/5QvY-So0oCk?t=50s

very lovely …ok? then what? what do these women do to that make the world better? ‘look good’? this is their worth?? maybe they could post helpful things they’re up to each day. Also, 1) if these are natural genetics, they hardly had anything to do with the outcome, so, out of their control; 2) if they are enhanced… sad. You or me breathlessly affirming these strangers’ gorgeousness, which I’m sure they already know, as they’re taking countless selfies, probably all the time, seems circular & rather pointless. We must do better.
