4C Love: 20 Stunning Photos of 4C Natural Hair

Avatar • Mar 19, 2015

It took a long time for me to accept and appreciate my hair texture. It’s so important that we teach our girls to love their hair.” — MsTanish1

4C hair has a long history of being considered “bad hair” — a history that is still very much the here and now in certain mindsets.  Nonetheless, more and more of us are realizing the truth, which is that our hair is nothing short of beautiful.  In celebration of our kinks and its versatility, here are twenty Instagram photos of 4C natural hair:

1. MsTanish1

Though MsTanish1 has not been uploading as much on YouTube, she is very active on Instagram.

Beautiful, I love how they are each showing the versatility of their hair in their own unique ways. Definitely have to show to my relatives who think that their hair is not beautiful and too kinky to go natural.

I love this article!! I love the versatility of my hair. I love it’s fullness and ability to ‘adapt’ most hairstyle. With care and love, it can thrive as well as any other texture!

All of these ladies are beautiful with beautiful hair!

What I love most about my 4C hair is the shrinkage and thickness!

Very beautiful I COMPLETELY AGREE but all these females have the L E N G T H as a female with 4c hair I often feel like it’s only beautiful when accompanied with the length.

I understand this and have noticed the extra attention but TWAs and short finger coiled 4s get a lot of admiration too. It’s just so beautiful!

I loooooove the versatility of my hair the most . and the fact that we have the MOST shrinkage, we our seen as true magicians if we wear our hair shrunken one day and stretched the next

Great inspirational stuff! I really love Yomilewa’s afro look — though minus the lipstick colours is my preference. There seems to be so much more (and growing) info out there now for 4c texture, which is just excellent to see! Keep it coming.

I enjoyed the video. I was looking at a video earlier with the person perming her edges. I call it split personality when it comes to her hair. Pick one and stick with it.

My hair type is 4C. I would like to know how I can reduce all those little hair when I wash or even cowash my hair ? Is that normal to have all these coils drop out?

That’s shed hair, that’s totally normal.

They’re not all 4c. A lot of 4a or mostly 4bs and only a few 4c 😉

YES THEY ARE, THERE ARE WAYS OF LOOSENING THE CURL PATTERN BUT ITS STILL 4C HAIR. WATER ON 4C HAIR MAKES IT MORE LOOSE.

when i was younger, i was so excited to get my first perm and my aunt told me i’d regret it. lol now i do. No ever told me how versatile our hair is and i wasn’t taught how to take care of it because my mother didn’t know how to take care of hers. Now there is all this information and knowledge on how to take care of our hair and I see these girls with their beautiful hair and i can’t wait for my hair to grow out and to learn to take care of it. My cousin… Read more »

I think that’s awesome. “Good hair” is such a silly notion. Any hair type can be gorgeous if it is healthy and you know what you’re doing with it. I’m currently transitioning (7 mos.) and can’t wait to cut off my processed ends when I get a bit more length. I’m owning my crown. We all should.
