BGLH is Dealing with Spam

Avatar • Aug 18, 2014

Hello ladies,

Over the past few weeks we’ve received reports of spam links (mostly to adult websites) popping up when people click through to BGLH from Facebook, Pinterest or our Mailchimp newsletter. Although the spam is disturbing, it will not infect your computer. We’re currently working with our programmer to pinpoint the source of the spam and hope to have it all removed by the end of the week. Thank you to everyone who’s emailed us to let us know what’s going on. And thank you for your patience as we work through the issue. We appreciate you all 🙂

Best,
Leila
BGLH Editor

Thank you SOOOO much for addressing this. I wanted to show my mom an article, and when I clicked on it that mess popped up. So glad to know the issue is being addressed.

Thank God. I thought I was the only one experiencing it. I normally click from my blogger dashboard, and then I see the spam.

I also experience it when clicking through from Bloglovin. Good luck getting it all sorted out!

It happens when I visit BGLH from my smartphone.

Also, my antivirus software says its blocking “Blackhole Toolkit Website 38” from your site. This has been happening for at least a month. It tells me the source address if that helps. BGLH Editors, just let me know if you need that data from me and I’ll email it to you.

I didn’t know how to tell you without looking liking a spammer myself.

Thank you for addressing this issue. I’ve been facing this issue, for some time now, when I browse the BGLH website on my smartphone. I didn’t mind the ad about children’s clothing( “For Her” ) but what got me upset was being redirected to a porn/explicit content website …( whatever it is ), when I was simply trying to post a comment on BGLH. I think the name of the website that I was redirected to is “Adult friend finder” … or something like that, incase it helps you to track the spam and stop it in it’s tracks.

Thank you so much! I Google “BGLH” while at work, and when I click the link I’ve been directed to the Adult Friend Finder website. Not a good look for work lol.

I had the same issue as alt‑K for the last couple of weeks. It wouldn’t happen all of the time. Probably about 2–3 times.

Don’t forget to remove the cookies those spammers leave on your computer.

Am I the only one who, after visiting this site, was directed to download the latest copy of Java, only to have my browser hijacked by something called “sidecubes”? I was able to get it off my browser by resetting it, but the next time I returned here, the redirect to Java happened again. This time, I actually looked at the URL. It was not Java. When I then clicked it off and refreshed the page here, the fake Java page popped up again. I couldn’t read from this site that night. It was this past Friday evening. I come… Read more »

I got the spam to when I click to read an article. Thank you for putting up that notification because for the first couple of seconds I was thinking “What the???” Lol! But then quickly remembered seeing you apology. 🙂

Just to let you know, it’s still happening. It’s not a popup for me — I click on the link from my favorites menu, and the site opens without any warning. They have recently put up an introduction page asking if visitors are over 18. It’s the only warning you get. (The site is Adult Friend Finder.)
