Introduce yourself!
S: Hello All, my name Is Sheena I am from Arkansas! I work with Special Needs Patients and I am a part time waitress.
How long have you been natural?
S: I have been Natural for 1 year and 5 months!
How and why did you transition into natural hair?
S: I transitioned for 7 months before I foolishly decided to “bc”. I was not ready to cut my hair off, but I did anyways. I hated my hair for quite a few months. I had decided to transition because I did not want to walk around with a shaved head or super short hair.
What are your must-have products for shampooing, conditioning and styling your hair?
S: I am completely in love with Giovanni products! I follow the curly girl method and the Giovanni products are on “the list” of products that are curly girl approved! I don’t do a whole lot of styling, just high buns or a twist out.
My product list includes: Giovanni 50/50 Balance Conditioner ( I also use this conditioner to wash my hair with ) Giovanni Direct Leave-in and Kinky Curly Knot Today Leave-in ( I use these two to do my twist outs or whenever I wear a wash and go ), Virgin coconut oil ( This is a new add-in to my hair products that I use for twist outs as well, and lastly I use shea butter to seal my ends. I keep it simple with the same products all the time.
What is your signature hairstyle?
S: I would have to say that my signature styles would be either a high bun or my twist outs. I’m pretty lazy and haven’t tried a whole bunch of different styles.
Did going natural affect your style choices at all?
S: I do believe that going natural changed my personal style. I take more chances with the things I choose to wear because If I’m going to have awesome looking hair I need an awesome outfit lol.
What are the three favorite things in your closet?
S: Hmm let’s see, my blazers, my neon green cardigan and my high waist skirts.
Your style is retro and fun. Any tips on pairing items for a retro inspired look?
S: I have been asked this question a lot lately and my answer is simple. You just have to step outside of your style box. Don’t be afraid to mix some colors and even prints.
Is there a blog/webpage where we can find you?
S: Yes, I have a hair blog: http://naturallysheenadesha.blogspot.com/. Also, check out my YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/SheenaDesha02.
