Willow Smith Rocks Rust Colored Hair: Would You Try It?

Avatar • May 17, 2012

Willow Smith is always changing up her look. Recently the petite 11-year-old was spotted at the Cannes Film Festival rocking a rust colored fade. I gotta say, I think it’s kind of cute. Ladies, what are your thought? Would you try this color? (More pictures below.)

I think it looks cute on her! That girl has her own style and isn’t afraid to conforming to beauty standards or expectations of others or the media. I could never rock a fade myself, but I applaud her for being so daring with her hair and style.

Uh, I had this color for years. Well…mine was more coppery. I’m currently sporting a more muted coppery brown auburn.

I dont like it. She looks like a boy & the color makes her appear much older. Nothing against Willow personally, but she has never been the least bit attractive to me. She has always had a very ODD look.

Please remember that this is a child and, as such, she’s still growing. Children are all limbs at this stage. Your comments are more appropriate for an adult. Thanks.

Yes you would say that BUT this “child” does not act like a child. She doesn’t look like a child either. Her parents have her doing what she wants like an adult so she is to be treated as such. There is nothing wrong with what tee said.

Regardless of how she acts and what her parents let her do, she remains a child. An adult cannot direct prejudice at a child without appearing misguided or immature. In the end, it’s really that family’s business how they raise their children. We can pass judgment all we want but I doubt that they are going to let public opinion sway their decisions.

Funny, I didn’t know acting like an adult automatically made you one. I guess that’s how it works now…

And thus, those who childish comments about the appearances of others should be treated like coddled infants?

i am genuinely confused about the judgement that Willow does not act like a child. She dresses like a child, she has never conducted herself in a lewd manner nor does she appear “fresh” or disrespectful. She is always seen with a chaperon or one of her parents. I would hate to think that this child judged harshly because of some hair dye. Her hair cut is adorable and her use of color is expressive and creative. We the general public knows not how this child is being raised but from any thinking person assessment, it is evident she is… Read more »

I whole heartedly agree. Willow dresses “differently” but she still dresses like a child. Now I haven’t seen EVERY picture of Willow, but when I do, she does not dress provocatively with skimpy clothes and tons of make-up. The most I’ve seen is her playing around with her hair and different articles of clothing. While I may not like everything she wears, it’s still age appropriate. I mean, who didn’t wear crazy clothes as a kid trying to experiment or express ourselves. Besides, this is not at all reflective of the way she is being raised. None of us live… Read more »

Hold the phone. Allowing a child to express themselves artistically does not make them an adult, it makes them a child who is comfortable with their self. I was eleven when my mother allowed me to get extra holes pierced in my ears, wear shoulder brushing earrings, wear holey jeans SnP style, etc and I’ve never been on the pole or the back of a squad car. Now, I’m not a big fan of her style, but it’s hers. She’s not doing a mini-Britney Spears naughty girl thing where grown men are counting down to her 18th birthday. Or hitting… Read more »

She it just a child with her own style. I think that it’s cute on her and it seems that her parents have a strong hold on their children and teaching them how to behave, have manners because I have had enough of seeing children of privilege run a muck and are drug taking, alcohol drinking butt heads and feel that they are above the law because of who their parents are or their family has money. Even if she was when was your state of dress ever an invitation to be raped? Babies wear even less than her during the summer but I would hope people know not to rape fucking babies! I don’t understand why people feel the need to pass judgement on people they don’t know. While people will always differ in opinion the fact of the matter is Willow is an entertainer and it’s part of her career to be flashy and unique in an industry where Hollywood has determined the standard of beauty for too long. It’s likely that having parents who are entertainers mainly influenced her decision to follow in their footsteps but by no means does that mean she is unhappy or crying for help by cutting and coloring her hair OR that the Smith’s ‘did… Read more »

So, because the bible says people should dress modestly, it gives you a right to judge a person who isn’t? Judging is wrong point blank, period. And what gives you the right to assume she will burn out by the time she is grown. It’s one thing to comment on her clothes, but her life and family is just plain rude and disrespectful. Get off your high horse, no one is perfect and everyone sins.

What is “modest in are appearance” mean? Specifically? I don’t remember “don’t die or color your hair” in the bible. I just want a refresher. Also who says that you are “clean” enough to judge her? I agree you should be modest in your appearance but does being modest mean you should conform. Additionally, yes you don’t want your kidss to grow up to fast. However, you have to look at things from every perspective. Long life is not promised and if your kids want to do something that is not detrimental to them or others. Why should we supress them? I know exactly the Bible passage africanbeauty references, and where it applies to Christians holding each other accountable, she is correct. It is in one of Apostle Paul’s letters to the Corinthians. However, that same passage points out that God Himself judges those who are “outside”. Since we do not know where the Smiths stand—and given their lifestyle, it is very likely, though not guaranteed, that they are “outside”—I believe it would be more correct for any who are Christians to pray for them, as we ought to do for the salvation of all Outsiders, and otherwise to simply answer… Read more »

I admire the fact that at such a young age she has the confidence to rock this hairdo. I do understand that it is good to express yourself. However children are called children because they need to reach a level or growth. They need to develop mentally and physically. They are persons of their own,but they cannot fully make an informed decision unless they mature to a certain level. Everyone is getting on my last nerves up in here.….lol I don’t care for it because coloring is damaging. And she ain’t my child. I gotta do what I feel is best for mine…who knows how this child will end up. Just gotta wait and see. But we ALL know children need and want boundaries. If Jada and Will don’t apply none, that’s on them. Lord knows they ain’t taking no advice from anyone on here…lol good or bad. NEXT!

I just love how Mommy is holding her baby in every picture! I’m 18 and my momma still does that to me. Wrist or back — every time lol
