When did you and your husband meet?
I: The way we met is actually kind of complicated…We had gone to the same schools and church since I was 12, but we didn’t actually speak to until my senior year of high school in 2003. He graduated two years before me and was voted “Favorite Guy” in his senior class. Everyone knew him! How did I miss him all of those years?
One day I was at a friend’s house venting about my recent break-up and he (my future husband) came driving down the street. When she recognized his car she went on to tell me about how nice he was, he treated his ex-girlfriend like a queen, he’s funny, and all of these great things. It was like a sales pitch, but all I heard was BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, blah, blah! I wasn’t trying to hear that at the time. My mind was still on my issues with the other guy. She waved and he pulled over to speak. She had dated one of his close friends so they started talking and they tried to include me in the conversation but again, I wasn’t trying to hear all of that. I rudely decided that I had had enough and went inside as they chatted it up outside. Thank God I was given another chance to meet him because I would have missed out on true love! This is how I know we were meant to be together.
6 months later, I walked into a cellular phone store to buy some prepaid minutes and there he was. I immediately fell in love with his eyes and charm. I couldn’t remember his name and mispronounced it. He remembered me and quickly stated that I was “mean”, referring back to the incident at my friend’s house 6 months earlier. I swore to him that I was nice and we joked for a few minutes. I continued to come to his store even when I didn’t really need prepaid minutes. The third time I went in the store he wrote his number on a card and told me to call if I had any questions about my phone. I still have that card to this day. I asked why he decided to talk to me even though I was “mean”, and he said it was because he couldn’t resist my smile. We went on our first date shortly after and the rest is history…
When did you get married?
I: November 25, 2011 at Northgate Country Club in Houston, Texas.
How was your big day?
I: All I can say is that we had a BLAST!!!!! The proof is in the pudding 🙂 Here is a link to our wedding highlights: http://youtu.be/bmDEgVUC3o4
How did you wear your hair?
I: I wore my hair in what I would like to call a Romantic Textured Bun. The theme of my wedding was romance, but I still wanted to show the texture of my natural hair. I twisted my hair first and then set it with flexi-rods and styled it in a low bun.
What was your process of deciding how to style you hair?
I: Crazy! I thought this would be the one time that I would allow a stylist in my hair, but I was so wrong. All of my trials didn’t turn out right and I didn’t want to take that risk on our big day. I know what’s best for my hair so I decided to wing it the day of our wedding and what you see in photos are the results of a last minute hairstyle.
How did your family/husband/guests receive your hair at the wedding?
I: It was nothing new to them. They’re used to my sisters and me going crazy over natural hair. Most of them already watch our videos or follow our page on Facebook. They didn’t expect anything other than natural hair.
Is there a blog/webpage where we can find you?
I: You can find me on YouTube, Facebook, and Tumblr along with my sisters. Subscribe, Like, and Follow us! Trust me, you won’t regret it!
