Bianca was featured as a Natural Hair Style Icon on December 22, 2011.
Where are you from?
B: I’m livin’ and reppin’ the town known as Chi!
Did going natural affect your style choices at all?
B: Going natural very much affected my sense of style. I broke free. I became more daring in my fashion choices versus buying things I really liked and saying “maybe” or “someday” I decided my hair didn’t allow me to hide anymore, so I decided to obnoxiously stand out.
How does your hair complement your style?
B: My hair is big and bold so I dress in bold colors. I love color blocking, and clean lines. I don’t like anything frilly or fluffy. My hair does that enough.
How would you describe your style?
B: My style is nostalgic. I don’t think I’ll ever dress futuristic unless I was referencing blade runner. My favorite era to pull looks from is the early 80s. Relaxed fits, androgyny, bold statements.
What are the three favorite things in your closet?
B: Generally my favorite things are an oversized blazer, a relaxed button down, and a high waisted trouser. (In all colors)
What are your three must‐have items of clothing?
B: I am dying for pastels and mints, girly colors in masculine cuts. Bold Sonia Rykiel inspired stripes, and anything from Aubin & Wills Spring Collection.
Your style is colorful. What’s your advice for selecting and incorporating color into a wardrobe?
B: If it looks ridiculous your headed in the right direction. Start with color blocking, but pick your favorite color. Think complimentary colors, but in a new way. Instead of red and green, how about a mint blazer and easter pink trousers. Good luck! 😉
