I use oils sparingly because they tend to make my fine hair feel straw-like. My favorite oil for sealing is grapeseed, but EVOO is a close second. I love the way coconut oil feels on my hair, but the slightest amount creates breakouts on my face.

Castor oil is a favorite of mine. I use it on my edges and to seal when needed. Leaves my hair soft, and it penetrate my hair much better than coconut oil. I use that in addition to moringa oil.

Olive Oil & Coconut Oil. Olive Oil ledt my hair surprisingly soft the 1st time i used it as a sealant when i ran out of coconut oil. Coconut Oil for the scent & how it makes my scalp feal.

Castor Oil has the same effects as gel on my edges, with out the stiffness.

As for essential Oils, I love Lemon for the scent & refreshing sensation on my scalp, and rosemary for the same reason.

I definitely do not have one favorite oil. I have several favorites.

Coconut, avocado, EVOO, brahmi, peppermint, and rosemary are the ones that I love. I used to have castor in my regimen; but, I’m over that oil.

for my life, hands down: coconut oil. i use that on my hair as a daily moisturizer and as a lotion. my lotions irritate my sensitive skin, but it’s really helped.

and also i love tea tree oil. i add it to my shampoo and conditioners to help with my dry scalp. i don’t know what i’d do without either of these oils now!

hhhmmm, let’s see:

-my regular spritz bottle contains water (DUH) & peppermint (i’m just in love with that smell!)

-a few days out of the week i oil my hair with a mixture of jojoba, rosemary & lavender

-and i really want to try green tea oil for hot oil treatment

-i’ve also been very curious about tea tree oil (another time.…)

Coconut oil — because it prevents hygral fatigue (thanks Jc, for that heads up!) and i can use it as a skin moisturizer and facial cleanser…AND IT IS CHEAP!

Jojoba oil: because apparently it is closest in structure our our own natural sebum. And i can use it as a skin moisturizer and facial cleanser too! and it is not too expensive.

olive and castor oil ! Castor oil because it makes my hair feel so much softer, like you know that mid-week feeling where you’ve put in just enough product to make your hair feel great but not enough so that your pillow looks like the BP oil spill ? „, yeah castor oil is like the perfect blend so i get that feeling for the WHOLE week. not too oil but not too little. Olive oil .. idk, im a new natural, i need to see what it does for me in the long end.

1. Coconut Oil- An amazing sealant (for my hair) and provides so much shine!! Also, not sticky, absorbant, and CHEAP! I use the generic brand from whole foods. I think i’ve had it for 2 years and I still got about an inch worth at the bottom. I use about a dollar coin size for my entire head. 2. EVOO (I’ve always wanted to write that!)- Very rich in moisture. I always add EVOO to my deep conditioners and my conditioner. I don’t use this daily because it’s a bit too thick and sticky for my taste, but I love… Read more »

Coconut Oil: I like it because it’s light, smells heavenly and has been proven to penetrate the hair shaft. I mix a little bit with my little leave-in conditioner. It’s great on my skin as well.

Castor Oil: I like it because it’s thick and seals in moisture. I use it to seal my ends when I put my hair in an updo or bun.

I like coconut oil, not too heavy and gives a lot of shine but I think it breaks out my face. I also like joboba and grapeseed. I find that castor and olive are too heavy and make my hair look greasy.

My hair really appreciates oils!!! I love coconut oil, almond oil, castor oil, olive oil and avocado oil. I use avocado and olive oil together for my pre poo treatments and it has done wonders in minimizing tangles, breakage, etc. I use the other three oils combined as a super sealant. I helps retain moisture and lets my hair smell super pretty. But if I am pressed to pick the superstar out of the oils, I would have to say castor oil. It has made my hair softer, shinier and minimized fairy knots.

My fav oils:

1.Hempseed oil- softens and smoothes hair
2.Castor oil — excellent sealant. Hair will stay moisturized all day.
3.Grapeseed oil — good for pre-poos and scalp health

I use olive oil and jojoba oil. Olive Oil keeps my scalp from drying out so I usually use it only in my scalp about three times a wk. I use a jojoba oil heat treatment to keep my ends together just once a wk or so. Neither is too watery or oily for me.

*Conditioning before a wash with a mix of olive oil, cinammon and water is also great for me.

I love coconut oil, have used it all my life. It makes my hair soft and shiny. I use it in my water spritz, and when I make kimmaytube’s leave-in recipe. The leave-in smells so divine, my little daughter can’t keep her hands out of it. She slathers it messily all over her head :)I substitute coconut for jojoba in the recipe because it is a fraction of the cost where I live.

for my hair I use vatika oil to seal my hair after I was and condition. And I use taliah waajid african healing oyl on my scalp during these winter months to soothe the dryness.

I also add olive oil to my giovanni smooth as silk conditioner for a deep conditioner.

Jojoba oil: Overall hair oil, general applications and mixtures. And it doesn’t clog pores, and great skin oil. Good for spritz mixtures. Shea Butter: Great in keeping moisture, doesn’t clog pores and nice on the skin especially during winter, helps hair keep soft. Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO): For oil rinses, shine, and for oil mixtures. Tea tree essential oil: Antiseptic and antibacterial qualities. Cold Pressed Castor Oil: Super thick quality for serious sealing in moisture for longer periods, oil mixtures, and hair ends. It also helps the hair for feeling softer for longer. I love Castor oil for my edges, sealing and scalp too!

i swear by tea tree oil for both hair and skin, words can’t capture my love for it. it’s great for blemishes, oily skin, and makes my scalp feel so clean. personally i like the smell but my family hates it and liken it to turpentine. i also like the feel of castor oil; it’s so thick and glossy but at the same time i feel like it penetrates my hair unlike some oils i also use, but not as much (coconut being a prime example). i don’t like the smell of castor oil that much, but it’s healing properties… Read more »

this is a doozy.
its a toss between Peppermint oil and hollywood beauty’s tea tree oil.
the tea tree has been my faithful ever since ive been on my locking journey. it helps to lubricate my scalp and keep dandruff at bay.

but peppermint oil brings the tingle and the growth (especially when mixed with castor oil). and im sure it works like an antiseptic just like tea tree.

#1 Coconut Oil- I use it to seal my ends and also as daily moisturizer
#2 Olive Oil‑I have been using this in winter months because it keeps my hair from drying out!!! I deep condition with it at least once a week.
#3 Argan (Moroccan) Oil-amazing for hair skin or nails, but its just expensive to find 100% pure! You don’t use a lot though, and it packs a punch!

I recently discovered Jamacain Black Castor Oil and I love the way it makes my hair and skin feel. I have sever alopecia and have to wear a wig daily. I’ve been using JBCO for about three months now and I can already feel a difference in my scalp. My hair is softer and doesn’t dry out as quickly. I also use it as a skin moisturizer and I love the way my skin feels. I had to get use to the smell but I noticed after about 20 minutes it is not as pronounced.

Wheat Germ oil is my FAVORITE OIL! I use it in my deep conditioners, spritz and once a week to seal. Right now I can’t seem to get enough of Extra Virgin Coconut and Olive Oils. I use them on my hair. I’ve been using the olive for my body as well. I have also started putting coconut oil on my face after washing. I believe both to be good for wrinkle prevention. The olive oil might be better because of the antioxidants but the coconut is so light and it smells light and sexy. Lol.

coconut oil is great for the skin. its not as greasy as olive oil, it clears up a tan(i.e. evens out skin tone) and reduces lines. In my case I’d have to say it removes lines. Coconut oil is a keeper.

Coconut oil as a hot oil treatment, but otherwise I don’t really use oils because they just sit on my hair and break out my face. I like things with Tea Trea oil in it, but I don’t use them regularly. A lot of the products I use have shea butter in them, but I’m not an “oil” person.

Extra virgin olive oil does my 4c hair good so i use that for my deep conditioners. Avocado oil too but it smells a little funky. Coconut oil i use for pre poos, on my skin and i lightly coat my fingers with it when undoing braids or twists. It has a nice light scent and adds sheen. My top favourite is coconut oil. Love the smell, great for deep conditioning and sealing, yet to try it out for pre poo. Next for me is olive, great scent, moisturises and great for my pre poo. Then I just started using castor oil on my edges but so far my hair likes it. Those are the oils I’ve had access to so far (I live in Benin City Nigeria)
