A few days ago I received this absolutely adorable email from Stephanie. She titled it “Our hair has changed over the years, but our friendship hasn’t: The story of Stephanie and Joi”. Check it out…
“I wanted to send in some pictures of my partner-in-crime Joi and myself, Stephanie of our natural hair journey.
This is Joi and I, we had just graduated from high school. Clearly we still loved the creamy concoction. Joi (left) has her real hair and I have on a few added “pieces”. LOL
Here we were in our sophomore year in college. I was the one more who researched the natural hair care, but being too much of a chicken I needed the support system. Luckily enough I was able to persuade Joi and we did the big-chop together! Awww, aren’t we cute!
Time goes by and still in our young stages we learn from the internet world, YouTube, and others, how to manipulate our hair. Wow! Look at the growth, this was junior year in college.
Now we’re living out life (graduated college this Spring), and we’re STILL learning what work best on our hair. And having fun doing it. It’s crazy because in a matter of months, we went from asking (and still asking) “What do you do to your hair?” to people asking us.”
The transformation from relaxed to natural is absolutely stunning! And how sweet to have someone to go through the changes with.
For more of Stephanie and Joi, check out their YouTube page.
This is such an adorably cute story. I love it!
Both of you have such beautiful hair, really cute story!

Love this story! =) They both look FAB!
Touching post. This made me smile. Both are already beautiful women but their features really stand out with all that naturalness.

Very Cute! Both of you have gorgeous hair! I wish I had gone natural when my BFF did. It only took 5 years for her to talk some sense into me. Now there’s no turning back.
This is too cute! I wish more of my friends were naturals. One of my besties is transitioning though!
Thats amazing! You guys have an amazing bond. It’s so great that you guys did the plunge together. There’s nothing like a great support system.
This is really nice. My partner in crime was/is my cousin. She chopped while we were roomates in college and I used to help her quickly detangle while her hair was wet. I chopped about two years later. She has locs past her shoulders and I’m rocking the big ole’ fro! It’s nice to have a natural buddy.
cuteness is right! i love this!!
this is such a beautiful and cute story. Everybody should have a partner in crime(lol) and friendship like that in the long run. During the bc or transitioning together is a great idea because it provides support system. Both ladies look gorgeous and their hair is fabulous
That is beautiful.
Lol, that is to funny and they are lucky to have support, right at arms reach.
Peace, Love and Chocolate

This was an awesome story and I loved watching your hair progression.
you two are beautiful and your story is too cute. Sort of reminds me of the natural journey of my sister and I.
Aww, love this! They are adorable…
Sweet story! Heading to their youtube channel now… 🙂
Wow, this is the definition of cute. Makes me want to call my bestie who inspired me to go natural!
Really inspiring to see how their hair has grown over time and that their friendship has maintained. 🙂
Awww this is the cutest story ever! I wish I had a good friend like this!!!
This is too cute for words!
This is such a touching story! It does help to have someone with you during your natural hair journey. 🙂 I have my twin, and we are both loving our natural hair!
You ladies look absolutely stunning! Love this story 🙂
I know it meant the world to have the support of a friend. Me and my sister started off going natural, but then I slipped and got a perm…oops. Now we are on this journey together 🙂 I told her that I am able to avoid all the mistakes that she made…lol
U guys are soooooo HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!
I regret to say that I never held on to one of the bestest women I had ever known and we were naturals back in the late 90s in high school. I see her on facebook sometimes and give her words of encouragement on all the wonderful things happening in her life. More than hair it is great to just have someone to go through the crazies with. I got a husband and all but there is nothing like a cool sister friend you can relate too.
Hold on to eachother and your curls VERY tightly.
What a blessing it is to have a wonderful friendship such as yours! Both of you have beautiful hair!
Adorably cute is rite. I really want to know where Joi got that dress she is wearing in the second pic 🙂 Anyone?
Super cute story & girls! Love their hair & style.
They say friends are the siblings that god forgot to give, this is wonderful. I wish i had natural friends… i have NONE.
I love this story and its so ironic because me and BFF took the plunge together as well although she BC this past January and I followed in March it has definetly helped to have someone to vent to especially in our ackward moment of when your TWA is not too short and is not long engough to be called BAA yet. But Iam embracing the journey thanks to BGLH and all the other natural hair community forums out there.
these two are awesome!
Very cute. I really like that yellow nail polish by the way.
Love love love it!!!!
so lovely! reminds me of my story. glad u had the support. yall look adorable.
