Click here for part 1 of this review, featuring picks 13 through 15

Beloved readers, these are the next three conditioners of my Top 15 Conditioners count down!

I want to note again, I haven’t tried EVERYTHING. If you don’t see your favorite brand listed, please don’t feel slighted. I may have not tried it yet, not tried a product from the brand that benefited my hair yet or it was simply incompatible with my hair type.

I also want to note that while I do not shy away from silicones there will be natural products on this count down the closer we get to my pick for “Top Drugstore Conditioner”.

Without further ado:

12. L’Oreal Vive Pro Hydra Gloss Moisturizing Conditioner

As some of you may know…I LOVE a gorgeous package. Minds out of the gutter. You know who you are. T_T

The picture does this bottle no justice!! It’s a buttery golden yellow I wish I could find for my nails with an iridescent sheen. The cap looks like stained glass. So pretty! What? Who doesn’t want a cheerful butter-cream yellow conditioner bottle in their shower? I want this as a top, dress, robe and night gown….I love the color!
Onto the product!

It’s fragrance, you ask? CREAMY AND COCONUTTY! Not a strong coconut smell… but it smells warm, creamy, and fattening. Hee, hee! It doesn’t linger, unfortunately. Very soothing and pleasant without being obnoxiously overpowering. I loved it.

The product itself is a creamy white/butter-cream frosting yellow, it’s pretty in your hand. It’s UBER thick (as in like Jello pudding) and your hair immediately sucks it in. I needed a GOOD glob in my 4 inch (as I write this) TWA. So you may need a lot, but it’s worth it. My tangles melted and…I’ve never felt this before…but my scalp…RELAXED. All at once! I felt it! It freaked me out…but felt so nice! I was totally sold as I massaged it into my scalp and hair. I’ve never had a drugstore conditioner be sucked up so QUICKLY by my hair and scalp. It really got into my hair and got to work!

Price: $4–6, not bad.

Ingredient Quality: I was really impressed. The Omega fatty acids, royal jelly, and oils are at the bottom of the list, yes. No surprise with a drug store brand…but it does have very moisturizing ingredients in the number 2–4 spots so I was rather impressed with this. Especially for only four-something dollars!

Over all: Amazing! I sat in the shower just to let it sink in, I so impressed. My hair was so pillowy soft and defined!

Final verdict:
Natural ladies: YOU MUST TRY THIS! It may be your new favorite conditioning base, detangling conditioner, diluted leave-in, or co-wash! It even reduced shrinkage 10–20%. It may not be a lot ‑but I’ll take what I can get. I’m not sure if it’ll do that for everyone, but who cares as soft as your hair shrunken or otherwise will be!
Relaxed ladies: Your scalp will love this. It’ll plump those strands and may make hair shinier, which is easier to see on straight hair. My hair was already shiny before I used this…so I can’t comment…but the healthier hair is (and the straighter it is) the more it shines!

Texlaxed ladies: Benefits all around! You may see reduced shrinkage, more so than natural ladies with coarser/thicker textures. This could be a great co-washor diluted leave-in!!

WELL DONE L’OREAL!

Ingredients:
Water – Aqua , Cetearyl Alcohol , Behentrimonium Chloride , PEG-180 , Amodimethicone , Cetyl Esters , Fragrance – Parfum , Glycerin , Methylparaben , Hydroxyethylcellulose , Olive Fruit Oil – Olea Europaea Oil , Trideceth‑6 , Citric Acid , Chlorhexidine Dihydrochloride , Cetrimonium Chloride , Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone , Coumarin , Safflower Glucoside , Royal Jelly/Royal Jelly Extract , Yellow 5 – CI 19140 , Yellow 6 – CI 15985

11. Herbal Essences Break’s Over Strengthening Conditioner

Let’s begin on the outside and work our way in, beloved readers.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE PACKAGE YET. ^_^ Stop snickering, you know what I mean!

The bottle shape is FLAWLESS. Inverted, push-top, with a sexy sway that makes it almost appear to be in motion and jewel-tone color worthy of being on a showroom’s walls: icy periwinkle meets flax flower! It has gorgeous font, perfectly placed text, fabulous, utterly girly graphics perfectly balancing the text. FAB!

Now, my darlings…the product itself. I had NO build up with this, but same feel as Hello Hydration! The scent is about the same too actually. The product is the same color as the bottle I might add…uber cute! ^_^

This will perform as a GREAT cowash for naturals and texlaxers who use silicones. It will help define curls a bit (I said, “a bit”, my dears, it can’t give you what you don’t have, however, mine did start popping in the shower) before adding your styling product without hordes of build up. If you use a LIGHT hand you may get away with this as a leave-in, but watch out for dullness.

The ingredient quality isn’t horrible. Obviously as I’ve spoken so much about it thus far, LOTS of silicone. Still, good fatty alcohols lead the list so that’s a nice balance.

I liked this because it set up my curls perfectly for styling, while texlaxed and natural. After the first use I noticed the balance of silicone was just right to protect and detangle…but not to hurt my hair’s health.

Relaxed ladies ‑this’ll make your hair take a flat-ironing much more easily (it did with my relaxed ends, at any rate) and can help with damage prevention. Not CORRECTION. Damage PREVENTION. Note again…I said: HELP. Still use thermal protection styling aids. Use a shampoo with coco betaine in it weekly to avoid build-up over time and enjoy, beloved readers.

Ingredients:
Water , Stearyl Alcohol , Cyclopentasiloxane , Cetyl Alcohol , Behenamidopropyl Dimethylamine , Dimethicone , Cocos Nucifera Milk Coconut , Mangifera Indica Fruit Extract Mango , Pearl Powder , Fragrance , Glutamic Acid , Benzyl Alcohol , EDTA , Citric Acid , Methylchloroisothiazolinone ,

10. Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Conditioner for Long Hair

Get some tea beloved readers. I’m going to wax some hard poetic about this product. From the outside in this is one of my top drugstore conditioners. Baa-aaa-aaa! That’s Little Golden Lamb for: You bet that’s right, honey! ^_~

Let’s begin on the outside and work our way in.

I ADORE this package! It even feels good in your hand! ^_^ … Don’t go there. T_T Anywho! The bottle shape is perfection. Inverted, push-top, with a sexy sway that makes it almost appear to be strutting down its own catwalk (IE: the edge of your tub or shower), jewel-tone magenta color worthy of being that of a red-carpet gown (my photo does it no justice the color looks NO WHERE near as plain red as it seems here), gorgeous font, perfectly placed text, fabulous, utterly feminine graphics perfectly balancing the text…I

Onto the product before I get any more worked up. The conditioner itself…PERFECTION! Thick, creamy, with a hint of pearlescent shine. It’s BABY PINK! Let me tell you it DOES smell of rasperries, actual raspberry juice is midway on the ingredient list. OH MY! It’s wonderful and I don’t even like fruit smells!

Speaking of fragrance, THIS IS A PERFECT DUPE FOR VICTORIA’S SECRET’S SEXY LITTLE THINGS FRAGRANCE! BONUS: IT’S MADE TO LINGER!

Yes! Use this in the shower and it lingers…use it as a leave-in and enjoy it ALL DAY! People around you will smell how wonderful YOU smell and that just makes the world a better place! ^_^ An odd sentiment, I know. Of course, lambs aren’t known for being sensible. Just cute and edible. ^_^ … Moving on.

Performance, you ask beloved readers? It spreads smoothly and coats hair without leaving it feeling heavy or “weighed down”. My hair felt smooth and supple after using it and it rinsed away cleanly. It’s thicker than pudding, but I still needed a great deal for my natural TWA. Not so much while bone laxed. I didn’t experience build-up, but I use a shampoo with coco-betaine regularly. I’d suggest you do the same or be sure to clarify with baking soda.

This is SO thick, rich and creamy! UBER “slippy” too. I haven’t reviewed a “slippy” conditioner in a while but detangling was a BREEZE. My comb slid though better than ever before. Wondrous and of course the scent had me detangling more than necessary just to keep enjoying it in my steamy shower! The whole bath smelled great! It rushed over my hair root to tips and left it noticeably softer to the touch within minutes.

Relaxed ladies: Amazing slip, it will definitely coat your strands to protect from wear and tear, leaving them smooth and smelling great!

Texlaxed ladies: Depending on your texture see the above for relaxed ladies AND know that this makes a DELISH leave-in! Shiny, soft, perfectly scented hair awaits!

Naturals: Same as the texlaxed ladies here. Don’t look for it to give your curl definition you don’t have…but it WILL make whatever you have softer and wonderfully scented!

ALSO NOTE: These ingredients are VERY similar to the leave in ‑NATURAL LADIES this may work as well, possibly better than the leave-in of this line, as a leave-in, depending on your texture.

Ingredients:
Water , Stearyl Alcohol , Cetyl Alcohol , Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine , Raspberry Juice – Rubus Idaeus , Hydrolyzed Silk , Glutamic Acid , Bis-Aminopropyl Dimethicone , Fragrance , Benzyl Alcohol , EDTA , Citric Acid , Propylene Glycol , Sodium Chloride , Methylchloroisothiazolinone , Methylisothiazolinone , Red 33

Baa. Baa. Baa. Until next time! ^_^

Stay tuned next Friday for the next three items in the countdown. And if you can’t wait till next week to see more of Rachel, check her out at her blog: http://littlegoldenlamb.wordpress.com/

I really like this series. I’m going to be trying the L’Oreal one this week, it sounds like something my hair really needs

I seriously LOVE all of the HH conditioners! They are very slippery and smell delightful.

I have yet to try L’Oreal though.

Of course I am in CVS and I saw the Loreal on sale for $2.99 so I have to try it at least once. If not I can use it on my daughter hair or my SO. We all have curly natural thick hair and go through tons of conditioner

yeah the HH conditioners are great but for the long term relationship one it has sodium chloride in it which is a corrosive agent so I’d ditch that one

Sodium chloride is just table salt. We eat and drink this every day. It is usually added to help buffer the hair product (the chemistry involves using the positive (Na+) and negative(Cl-) charges.

I like the intensive mask from HH(in a jar not sexy bottle ;))but for me the regular HH conditioner are really not that good.

Great list! I already use the Herbal Essence line, but I will definitely try the Loreal Vive Pro conditioner when I do a stock up run at Wal-Mart. By the way, I love your curls.

Sometimes my locs get thirsty

remember how the plant in little shop of horrors said “feed me”?

they sometimes seem to cry out for nourishment almost just like that

Dove Intensive Therapy (on the 1st half of this list) is my all time favorite conditioner but the PJ (Product Junkie) in me is dying to try #11 now! Must lock up my wallet!

I tried the Loreal. Beautiful packaging indeed and it smells nice but it did nothing for my super thick hair. I ended up mixing it with HE Totally Twisted which is my FAVE of all time (so far). I have 10 bottles of conditioner at home from 7 different brands and still, nothing beats Totally Twisted for cowashing.

For Screeeename…uhhhh:)? I actually just combed out my locks because i was not pleased with the way they felt(not my time yet). I know that this particular crop wasn’t nourished like my previous but because there is no shedding,in a sense, you are retaining all of your hair so how you take care of them in the begening with a regualr regimine makes a big diff! if you start out nourishing them and attending to them,(not to say you have to twist), but wash and condition as well as oil(and hot oil treatment), they will be and remain moisturized. It’s… Read more »

Spot on with this write-up, I truly suppose this website wants far more consideration. I’ll probably be once more to read much more, thanks for that info.
